Retain water

EVERGREEN® & ECOSORB®

Our water-retaining polymers capture rainwater or irrigation water and store it in gel form right at the roots, without altering its quality. A permanent reservoir, accessible to the plant regardless of soil or climate, that removes water stress during the critical phases of the cycle.

  • −50 to −70% water depending on irrigation type
  • EVERGREEN®: WAC (Water Absorption Capacity) 300X, 3 years in the soil

What we're asked first

The six questions that come before the order

These are the objections we hear at every first meeting. Here are the answers, and the documents that back them up.

"A water-retaining polymer — that's polyacrylamide. Isn't that dangerous?"

ECOSORB® is corn-starch based, EVERGREEN® is potassium based — no sodium, no free acrylamide. The ISO 9001-certified Polymex laboratory measured acrylamide in ECOSORB® by UPLC/TOF-MS, GC-MS pyrolysis and infrared: content below 3.0 µg/g, under the method's quantification limit. "And substances of concern under REACH?"

EVERGREEN® was submitted to SGS screening for the 233 substances of very high concern on the European Chemicals Agency's candidate list. Result: all ≤ 0.1% by mass, the regulatory threshold.

"What's left in my soil after a few years?"

The polymer degrades progressively, 20 to 25% per year, into CO₂, water and nitrogen compounds used as nutrients by plants. Useful lifespan is 2 to 3 years for ECOSORB®, 3 to 4 years for EVERGREEN®. There's no accumulation, and no overdose risk.

"The hydrogels I tried suffocated my plants."

That's the flaw of sodium-based products: once hydrated they form a paste that suffocates the plant. Acrylamide-based ones, where still allowed, are only authorized for non-food crops. Both our formulations are potassium-based, compatible with food crops and soil microfauna.

"Will it work on my soil and my crop?"

The dosage rule is the same everywhere: 3 grams per liter of usable soil. Trials currently under way cover corn, potato, sugarcane, tomato, olive, hazelnut, peanut, chestnut, turf, red maple and Douglas fir, across climates from Poland to Guinea. "You mention organic. Who certifies that?"

SOHISCERT, a control and certification body, for inputs usable in organic plant production under regulation (EC) 2018/848 and regulation (EU) 2021/1165. Certification valid until September 4, 2027.
